The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It takes about 1 hour. Incisions can be made under the chin or inside the mouth. If it is done through the mouth, the risk of bacterial contamination is higher, but there is no visible trace. Then the appropriate implant is placed on the chin.
The patient is discharged on the same day or the next day. If an intraoral incision is made, it is supported with appropriate antibiotics. His diet is mainly liquid in the first days.
Intraoral sutures dissolve on their own. Sutures under the chin are removed on the 10th day. The person’s face and chin area may swell and become bruised. The patient can return to work after 7-10 days.
