It is a surgery to remove the excess skin and the fat layer that causes swelling, which can be applied to both the lower and upper eyelids. The aim of the operations is to obtain a flatter, striking and youthful eye area. Because over the years, together with stress and insomnia, skin sagging around the eyes, fat pads will form, and the drooping eyelids that will occur will both give a tired and old expression and adversely affect your visual field.
Upper and lower eyelid surgeries can be performed independently or in the same session. It can be applied to both men and women.
It can be done with general anesthesia or local anesthesia. For the upper lid, the incision is placed in the natural upper lid crease, for the lower lid, it is placed immediately parallel to the eyelash bottom. The duration of the operation is 30 minutes–1 hour for the upper eyelid and 1-2 hours for the lower eyelid. After the surgery, appropriate bands are placed and dressing is done.
The patient can be discharged on the same day or stay in the hospital for 1 night. There may be mild swelling and bruises on the face. If regular cold application is made in the early period, it will be minimized. The patient’s bandages are removed on the 2-3rd day and he can take a bath. Stitches are removed on the 5th day. Swelling and bruises disappear within 7-10 days and after this period, make-up can be applied. You can return to work on the 3-5th day after the operation. Light activities can be done after 2-3 weeks and heavy activities after 1 month.
For the upper lid, the scars coincide with the natural lid fold, for the lower lid, they coincide just under the eyelashes and their places are not clear. They are hidden in natural anatomical folds.
